During your appointment, we will discuss your past and current health status, symptoms, goals, and the potential benefits medical cannabis has to offer you.
It is required that you bring the following:
- Proof of NYS residence
- NYS government-issued ID indicating aged 18 years or older
- Documentation indicating a condition your primary provider deems clinically appropriate -as of January 2022, there is no longer a list of qualifying conditions that a patient must meet to be certified in NYS.
- Legal entitlement to higher doses at a 60-day supply.
- Elimination of age as a barrier.
In NYS, Medical cannabis is not restricted. Recreational cannabis is limited to 21+ years.- Application for medical cannabis starts at the age of 18 years; however, a caregiver may apply on behalf of a patient younger than 18 years.
- Cost-savings: 7% imposed tax vs 13% retail tax on recreational. Also, dispensaries have various incentives, e.g. loyalty programs and special sales promotions.
- Dispensaries offer a sophisticated quality assurance regulatory structure including standards for production and manufacturing, strict product testing, labeling, packaging, and advertising to ensure products are safer for consumers.
- If you are thinking about purchasing a firearm.
- The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the American Academy of Pediatrics recommend that an individual stop using cannabis if they are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Foreseeable federal government employment. Medical cannabis (nor marijuana) is legal under federal law.
- Obtain documentation from your healthcare provider indicating a condition he/she deems clinically appropriate. In NYS, there is no longer a list of qualifying conditions.
- Book an appointment through our website with our practitioner who is registered with the Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) to determine eligibility. Be sure to bring the required documents (see FAQ What do I bring?).
- Note: payment is due at the time of booking; it is fully refunded if you do not qualify.
- Once your eligibility is determined, you will receive certification with your registry ID# during the same appointment.
- Visit one of the many dispensaries in NYS for purchase. Bring your government-issued ID and your certification with Registry ID#.
- Note: As of 3/20/23 Registry ID cards are no longer issued.
- Not all dispensaries manufacture the same/all forms of medical cannabis. Examples of forms: vape cartridge/pen, capsule, tablet, oil, oral spray, and powder.
*Consultations with our practitioner are available in-person or via telemedicine for those outside of a designated radius. Patient’s seeking Medical Cannabis with a diagnosis of PTSD and/or Substance Use Disorder will not be eligible in this office and are encouraged to seek the assistance of a behavioral health specialist.
